Howard Hughes Holdings set to join S&P SmallCap 600
Morning light over a city skyline of office towers, as index providers rebalance ahead of the market open.

Howard Hughes Holdings Inc. (NYSE: HHH) will replace Arcosa Inc. (NYSE: ACA) in the S&P SmallCap 600, S&P Dow Jones Indices said, effective before the opening of trading on Wednesday, October 28, 2026. The index provider classified Howard Hughes under the Real Estate sector and had classified Arcosa under Industrials.

The change was triggered by S&P 500 constituent CRH plc's (NYSE: CRH) acquisition of Arcosa, in a deal that closed the same day the index change was announced, October 23.

S&P Dow Jones Indices describes itself as the largest global resource for index-based concepts, data and research, home to benchmarks including the S&P 500 and the Dow Jones Industrial Average, and said more assets are invested in products based on its indices than any other provider globally. It operates as a division of S&P Global (NYSE: SPGI).

Beyond confirming that the CRH-Arcosa transaction had closed, the release disclosed no further terms of that acquisition, and gave no reason beyond the acquisition itself for Arcosa's removal from the index.

  • S&P Dow Jones Indices' description of itself as 'the largest global resource for index-based concepts, data and research' is the index provider's own characterization.
